Down 4.4 Pounds in just 1 week!
Posted by Personal Thoughts, The Medifast Program, Weight-Loss Success
I lost 4.4 pounds in my first week back, it’s amazing how quickly the Medifast Program works. I think I may go back to avoiding the scale for a while though. Staying away from the scale allows me to stay in the process and out of the results.
We’re starting to thaw out a bit up here, thank God. It’s been a long hard winter, and I’m excited to get back outside and enjoy the fresh Maine air. That’s it for now, but I’ll be sure fill everyone in more next time.
Love,
Genie

Throwing Down the Weight Loss Gauntlet
Posted by Personal Thoughts, The Medifast Program, Weight-Loss Success
I’ve made the decision to go for 10 more pounds. After having reached my goal, of 30 pounds and a size 6, I’ve had to re-assess if this is really where I want to be. I’m happy to find that this weight loss seems easy to maintain even with the occasional splurge. But after talking to my Health Coach, I think I’m ready to take on a new challenge; to return to my size and weight from my 20’s. My Health Coach has assured me that this is attainable and healthy. Research shows that we can return to a weight that we held in our 20’s if we held that weight for 4-7 years. It’s not realistic to try to go lower than that. So for me 10 more pounds.
Of course the only way forward is to take it a day at a time and stay in close touch with my Coach. But I’m excited about the journey. I guess I really like having a goal, it’s very motivating for me.
I hope you are re-assessing and setting goals for yourselves too, it’s invigorating and positive. Life is so much more interesting and easy when we have hope.
What goal are you pursuing today?

Nearing My Goal
Posted by Weight-Loss Success
I have just returned home from filming “The Note”, a Christmas movie for Hallmark Hall of Fame. I had a great time, and it was so nice to go to work again! It will be on TV December 8, 2007; I hope you all will tune in, I think you’ll really enjoy it.
I lost a total of 7 pounds while shooting the movie and I’m now down 28 pounds and am wearing a size 6! While I was in Toronto I actually had to run out to the mall to pick up a new pair of pants that would fit me?. I’m also getting into an exercise regimen again, doing some running and weight training. I really love my workouts. I have tons of energy now, and surprisingly little hunger. I think my eating habits have really changed. My appetite is much smaller and I seem to want the right foods more than the wrong ones. I believe now that appetite is mostly created by habit—and by excluding sugars and white flour, I feel very free of craving. I’m in a very relaxed “Zen” place with food now. It’s really nice.
I go to Los Angeles in a few days to shoot a new commercial for Medifast. It’s always fun to do my wardrobe fitting with Sam (our wardrobe guy). Oh yeah, I got a new haircut too. Life is good, change is the key—and letting go. I’m feeling so hopeful about the future now. I think that’s the most precious gift I’ve received from Medifast.
Keep going and don’t give up before the miracle happens.

Update for my Medifast Friends
Posted by Weight-Loss Success
Sorry I’ve been out of touch on my blog for a while. I just wanted to update everyone that I’ve been in Toronto for a few weeks shooting the lead role in an upcoming Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. I’m having so much fun and am really excited about the project, but it has kept me busy and away from my blog for a while.
But, what is so great about the Medifast Program is that it goes on the road with you so well. I haven’t missed a beat while in Toronto and have actually lost more weight! I lost about 5 pounds the first two weeks I was here. I will do my best to get back to blogging as soon as I can. I should be in Toronto for another couple weeks. Until then I hope you are all doing well and continuing to lose… I will be in touch shortly!

Breaking Through
Posted by Weight-Loss Success
I broke my two-week plateau this morning! What a great feeling! I’ll probably go back to a 2-pound per week weight loss now. I can’t believe how much my body has changed. This is really fun!
I’ve been thinking about how I want to celebrate when I reach my goal. For years I’ve had this fantasy about going to Italy with empty suitcases. Jonathan and I talked about it— and we’re going to do it! I’m going to give myself a full new wardrobe and a new look. I can’t think of a better way to reward myself.
I had more visitors this week. My oldest and dearest friend visited Maine with her family, and it’s been wonderful. I hope your week is going well, and that you’re planning your victory celebration, too.

On My Way!
Posted by Weight-Loss Success
Wow, I am just melting away! I’ve lost 9 pounds in the last 3 ½ weeks. That’s just under 3 pounds a week!
The 5 & 1 Plan is really kicking in for me. Here’s what I’ve changed:
* no bars
* shakes and soups only
* being diligent about drinking water
Most importantly, I’m now weighing myself only once a week (which is really hard for me). To date, I’ve lost a total of 17 pounds with Medifast - and I feel great!
I just came back from the Take Shape For Life convention in Colorado. What a great experience! I attended informative lectures and cooking classes alongside 400 Health Coaches. It was fabulous! The more I get to know about Medifast, the prouder I am to be associated with the company. So many people using the Medifast Program have turned their lives around and are getting healthy. The support and camaraderie is inspirational and healing.
I’d like to encourage all of you to make use of the network of support offered through Take Shape For Life, a division of Medifast, and to check out their website. You don’t have to go it alone—losing weight can be a great experience when shared with others.

Over the Hump!
Posted by Weight-Loss Success
What a week it’s been! I spent the early part of last week in L.A. shooting a commercial for Medifast and doing some other media. Look for me on the cover of an upcoming issue of Soap Opera Digest and Quick & Simple Magazine, I did interview’s with them about my weight-loss and there should be some good photos of my progress up to this point. I feel so good about my progress, and yes, I did get over that 10 pound hump I was talking about last week… I’ve now lost 14 pounds - YEAH ME!!!!The trip gave me a first-hand lesson in how easy it is to stay on the Medifast program even when you’re on the road. I was really nervous about leaving my comfort zone at home, and having a setback, but all of that was put at ease. They had plenty of Medifast Meals on set, so in between takes I would just grab a shake or a bar, then when I got back to my hotel I would have my Lean & Green Meal. I also asked my mom to pack a Lean & Green Meal for the airplane out to L.A., which was great… Thanks Mom! :)
We also went out to dinner one night with Kristy Swanson and some of the people from Medifast. I’m not going to lie, it was tough looking around the table and seeing what everyone ordered, but I also realized that I CAN go out to dinner on Medifast and enjoy myself. We had a great time, and Kristy and I got to share some of our early Medifast experiences. By the way, Kristy looks fantastic and is off to a great start as well!
I noticed there have been a lot of comments on my first journal entry, which is really exciting. Thanks so much for the support! I was thinking since I just got back from California, this could be a good time for you Medifast travelers out there to share your experiences on the road and how you stick to the program. This could really help some people new to Medifast who might be nervous about traveling and having a setback. So feel free to add a comment and help everyone out!
